Volunteer SpotlightTy Dupuis CCA regularly highlights some of our wonderful volunteers and Ty Dupuis certainly deserves this recognition! Ty has been involved with CCA for several years. A generous supporter who attends many CCA events, Ty also donates pizzas from his company, Flying Pie Pizzas, to all our Chemo Pal trainings and education events. No surprise that attendance skyrocketed once these yummy pizzas began arriving! Read on to learn a bit more about Ty… When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? When I was a kid I had a lot of things I wanted to be. They all revolved around sports with Baseball and Basketball player being my first two choices. My brother and I would play with or against each other every day for hours sometimes. If you were a super hero, what would be your special power? I would want the Superhero power to be "Flight". I love flying on planes and seeing the landscape from above. Plus I could use it to avoid traffic! What was your most embarrassing moment? I honestly don't know what my most embarassing moment is, but I'm sure my children were involved in it in some way. How long have you been volunteering at CCA? I have been helping the CCA for over a year now. I volunteer because I am able to provide an incentive to the volunteers who do the work as Chemo-Pals. I admire what they do and the effort they put into it. How did you hear about CCA? I was originally brought to the CCA by the Nelson and Terry show "Valentines Day For CCA" 3 years ago. Listening to the stories from the families and the history involved with the creation of the CCA inspired me to bid and donate. Through my efforts I was able to make connections with the CCA directly and in turn started to find ways I could help with the Chemo-Pal program. What is it about CCA that keeps you coming back? I keep coming back because I know that my pizzas are a good reward for the training that the volunteers go through, plus donating makes me feel good. |
